Mt. Lebanon's Great Pumpkin Patch Halloween Parade 2008

Wilma Novogradac, Society Trustee (left) and M.A. Jackson, Society President, participated in Mt. Lebanon's Great Pumpkin Patch Halloween Parade in October. Their outfits represent what women in Mt. St. Clair Cemetery Tombstone Dedication

A dedication of seven new markers installed by Boy Scout Troop # 323 was held 11 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2006. The Historical Society of Mount Lebanon helped with the project and the dedication.

The project, lead by Boy Scout Robert Ryan (as his Eagle Scout project), was to order new, government issue markers for seven of the cemetery's most worn Civil War veteran tombstones. The veterans who received new stones are:


Mathew Black
George B. Milholland
Henry House
Daniel McCartney
Joseph Couch
William Quigg
Thomas Boss

The dedication was the project's finale. The month before, Robert received word he would be granted his Eagle Scout.

The Society would like to thank David Redding of Mt. Lebanon for driving Society members M.A. Jackson, Marty Carney and Wallace Workmaster in the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 Memorial Day Parade. CEMETERY TOUR BOOK FOR SALE

The Society is selling copies of its St. Clair Cemetery walking tour booklet.

St. Clair Cemetery, located on Scott Road behind Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, is the oldest cemetery in Mt. Lebanon.

The booklet contains pictures and profiles of many of the people buried in the cemetery and can be used to for a self-guided walking tour.

Booklets cost $10 (includes postage).
